“A Hero is a Man Who Does What He Can.” – Romain Rolland

My children have no idea why American flags are suddenly EVERYWHERE today. But they’ll never have lived in a world where the events of September 11th never occurred. When they’re old enough to be told about that day, I hope they can see the heroic efforts, the American spirit, and the humanity that emerged that day, rather than letting the terror and hatred be their lasting impression.

If you’ve never seen this documentary about the evacuation of the island of Manhattan after the terror attacks, please watch.  On a day where it’s so easy to remember the helplessness, confusion, terror, and grief, we can easily forget moments and people like this.
