Another gray-ish day in Chicagoland – so I’ll be trying to create my own sunshine today! My parents are here for the weekend, my kiddos are exuberant about it (read: “manic”), and we’re finally passed the “KILL ALL OF THE THINGS” portion of our Whole30. Things are looking up!
PS – the Whole30 = No joke. We’ve been pretty strict and we’re feeling good with a ton of energy. I did have a total fail moment involving a FRESH DONUT, but I think the universe understands. I think fresh donuts are an exception to just about anything, right?
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend filled with fun! Have a good idea or plan for gray days? Let us know!!
I am a major color-focused person. The brighter and more saturated, the better. I love neutrals – but mostly because a bold color shows up all the more against them!
One of my favorite color combos has had a major fashion comeback lately. I’ve always loved the color combo of corals and blues – it just screams, “SUMMER!” Lucky for me, it seems like “trend” is here to stay in the fashion industry.
Don’t want to just take my color-crazed word for it? From Decoist.com:
With bright oranges making a grand comeback…, coral is the ideal color for those who wish to join in on the trend…! While bubbly Tangerine has been dubbed the in color by some, coral is a refreshing alternative that is far more elegant and equally vibrant.
See that? Elegant and vibrant. Basically, my middle names. (Except no.)
Bring on Summer with COLOR!
I’ve written about Jamberry’s Nail Art Studio before (and you can see my designs under “Custom Designs” at the top of the page!). I’ve had several of the designs printed out, but when they got here, I just couldn’t cut into them. But finally… I got this in the mail:
I know, I know. It doesn’t look like much there. Just some orange and blue blobs, right? I needed to change my nails (the color polka dots were fun, but if my 5-year-old thinks they’re too young for me…). I had these on my counter. The day is once again gray and cold.
So I took the plunge and put these on for my next set of Jams. Result? Instant cheer, instant summer vibe!
I’m really happy with how they printed – and even happy with how the design translated to nail wraps. That’s a sentence I never thought I’d utter!

I LOVE this image. It’s so true – even on the worst days when I *think* I brushed my hair, my kids are screaming because one of them *looked* at the other, and I really don’t think I’ll be doing much else besides plug my ears, close my eyes, and hope the laundry goes away. (Pro Tip: That trick doesn’t work. Ever.)
But…my kids are healthy and happy, I’d be able to brush my hair if I remembered to do it, and my kids have enough clothes that the laundry *can* pile up and they’ll still not be naked. (Except for those random times when they just combust into nakedness. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN???)
So Thursday was one of those days for me. But then yesterday… I checked my office site. That Walk MS Fundraiser?? It ended up raising $95 dollars in less than a week for my friend Erica’s 5K team. Then, one of my brand-new teammates, a stay-at-home-mom with two boys, a full-time job, and a fierce love for Jams got her first customer – just by showing how much *she* loved the product. Then… my kids hugged on their dad, said some really funny stuff, and collapsed into silly giggles – my favorite sound in the world. AND – It was Pizza Day at school, so I didn’t even have to make a sack lunch. Not a world-shaking day, but a really nice one!!
So… Thank you SO MUCH to everyone that helped with the Walk MS Fundraiser, congrats to my girl Brandi for getting a fantastic start with Jamberry, and thank you from the bottom of my heart to the elementary school classes for scheduling a Pizza Day for the preschoolers.
